Took me quite awhile to get into it but once I did I liked it. I am becoming a big fan of demon stories and while this one is quite complex it is well explained and entertaining.

I liked this one because of the continuation of Jacob. We were kind of left in the dark on the Kane/ Corrine relationship so it was nice to have an update. I also enjoyed the shortness of this one.

I really don't know what to say about this series. To be honest with you I feel it is too meticulous. I am reminded of the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. Mind you I enjoyed that series but at some others just couldn't get past the information overload. I realize that she is setting up an entire society therefore details are necessary but it seems there is toslow the pace of the book. Gideon specifically seemed to flow VERY slowly; so much so I needed to take a break. On to my review of Elijah.

OK. I liked this one more than Gideon but again it really seemed to lag in the middle. There seemed to be so much going on with past characters, new characters and the current couple that I was often confused. There were some really intense scenes and some interesting developments but all seemed to occur toward the very end of the book. Therefore I have to say again this is only a 3 star book. While I eventually get hooked on the story and am eager for the next move I am still disappointed at the period of time it takes to get there as well as the lengthy detailed explanations of EVERYTHING.

  5. Damien: I don't get it. Honestly, I just don't get it. This book was Blah, blah, boring, long winded blah. The story has SO much detail and no substance. I honestly don't care about EVERY freaking touch, smell, sight and sound that EVERY character experiences. Oh and then switch to the next characters reactions to the SAME DAMN THING. This saddened me, I wanted so badly to like this book. I was looking forward to learning about Damien and the vampires, not to mention I assumed there would be some advancement in the overall plot but nothing happened. It was just a REALLY dull romance with dull characters. *Sigh* Now I have to PRAY that Noah will at least make an interesting story.

  6. I know the month is over but I will FINISH this series if it kills me. Though I don't think I will do the next three books.

  7. I FORCED myself to finish this. This whole series was a drag for me. WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY TOO many details. Oh did I say that too much? Well that is how this series read to me. ARGH! I just wanted to scream. In fact I think I may have growled a time or two. This side stories and internal dialogue take FOREVER. The incessant details make the stories so long and so slow and put me to sleep.

Example 1: "She lowered her thick white lashes until they all but obscured the blue diamond irises of her eyes. She glanced around the room yet again, as she had been doing since stepping into the unknown territory. This time she caught the slightest movement in the hallway behind Sand's back.
She sighed, long and regretfully, flicking open her icy eyes so she could give him a cold stare."

REALLY? Enough with the damn eyes, move on.

Example 2: "Corrine knew he was familiar with the history, so she kept it brief." 3 pages of small print, highlighting every detail one more time is neither brief nor interesting. HE already knows, WE already know, move on.

Now back to the story itself, Kestra is (in my opinion) annoying. Noah, whom I was interested to know, annoyed me with his "chuckling" all the time. Honestly I would prefer a male who growls his frustrations not "chuckling" about everything as though it was an insignificant joke. Noah did some underhanded things yes but he is a demon, I can except it. Not like it but except it. Jasmin is just friggin annoying and the side stories left me confused as to why I needed to read them. This series just left me grumpy.

In conclusion I can say that I will not be reading Frank's other books, and obviously I can't just assume that a series is good because there are SO many positive reviews. I think I prefer books others seem to greatly dislike. What is wrong with me? In any event, been there, done that, time to move on.
