SEALS, Inc. by Mia Dymond... FREEBIE

Leather, Lace and Rock-n-Roll (SEALS, Inc. Book 1) by Mia Dymond~ V^^^^V

Bravo Mia. I am hooked, I NEED to know what happens with Max and Cameron.

I got this book during a weekend freebie on Amazon. I thought what the heck lets give it a go, it's free. I was genuinely pleased with the "purchase". This story involves Rachel, a once burned forever scarred Architect and Jaydon Hawke, a deep undercover SEAL. The romance is sweet, the tension is incredible and the action is perfect. I felt that as a whole the book was very good. I was able to really amerce myself in the scenes thanks to the incredible descriptive details. The only thing that bothered me was how I felt in the dark about the SEAL's mission , there were several points when I felt like they would just discuss details with each other so I knew what was going on in their heads. I knew the point but I just felt it lacked a little something. Nonetheless this book was an excellent introduction to a new series and I can't wait to grab the next books. ~Michelle

The whole series is pretty inexpensive, either way you can at least try the first book it's free. I am including links to all the books.

And One Last Thing by Molly Harper

And One Last Thing by Molly Harper ~V^^^^^V

Have I mentioned that I love Molly Harper? Well I do. I put off reading And One Last Thing for a long time. I am not a big Chick Lit fan, nor am I a divorcee so I just didn’t think I would like it. I was wrong. Finally after months of humming and hawing I went ahead and did it. First of all I don’t know what it is about Molly’s writing that just speaks to me but I feel like she is writing in my own internal monologue voice. I swear more saying and thoughts come out of her characters that I think myself than I would say is rational. Anyway to the point; One Last Thing is a story of Lacey Terwiller, a suburban housewife who discovers her husband is having an affair. The story follows her struggle through the anger, hurt, betrayal and eventual rebuilding of her life. The writing is phenomenal. So completely engrossed in the tale I was embarrassed, enraged, hurt and saddened along with Lacey. I wanted to reach into the pages and strangle Mike, the ex, myself. I HIGHLY recommend this book, it really was a great story. ~Michelle

Fifty Shades Series by E.L. James

I can't believe I forgot to review this in real time! I read these last month and never posted, for shame. OK well as is my new custom I will give all three reviews together here.

Fifty Shades of Grey ~V^^V
I can't give this a better rating, while the book redeemed itself in the end it just took too long. In the beginning the story really didn't have a point. Girl meets boy, girl likes boy, boy apparently just wants a f*ck partner. From there Ana is just ticking things off as if retelling the events to an interviewer. There doesn't seem to be any real character building she just goes about her life. The majority of the story is emails and contracts. I have no interest in reading a prolonged definition of BDSM and Sub/Dom relationships; that is not my lifestyle. So that said about 2/3 of the way through the story we finally get some character development and a smidgen of back story. I will say that I don't have much of a like for either of the main characters' personalities so that did hamper my views. I feel like Mr. Grey needs to dial it back and Ana needs to step up. The ending did redeem the story for me and I was curious enough to see where this story goes from here. So on to Fifty Shades Darker for me.

Fifty Shades Darker ~V^^^V
This one is SO much better written than the previous book. I actually liked this one. It seems as the though the writing has improved greatly. This book is less of interview type telling of events and a little more of a story. The contract no longer playing a huge role in eating up pages it left room for a story. The relationship between Ana and Christian is still a mess. I wanted to throw my Nook across the room more often than I have in any other story but I guess that means I am committed. My main issue with this one is that all the situations seemed rather cliche. It almost seemed like every romance novel dynamic situation was stuffed into this story. Its almost sad that I know all the basic romantic scenarios. I can't fault E.L. for wanting to throw in some action though. I am impressed by the author growth here so I will be continuing and finishing the Trilogy.

Fifty Shades Freed ~V^^^V
Overall I ended up liking this series. Initially I was very put off by the lack of editing and the newness of the author. I think she started to show some confidence in her writing by the second book and it showed. The things that bother me about this book are how the relationship between Ana and Christian seems to take a step back in the first half to three quarts of this book. Christian is back to his old ways and Ana seems to always just let him railroad her. I found it ridiculously annoying. The other thing I didn't care for was the abrupt time/ story line shifts. One minute we are here and the next we are apparently in a memory. Overall though it was a good romance, the characters were well plotted and some of the scenarios were very gripping. I can tell you that I tended to skip the sex scenes at a certain point, though they were good, they just tended to be in excess.

To sum it up, though at first I tended to tell people to skip it, I can say now with good faith that I would not do so anymore. It's as good as any other romance out there, and I hope for success for E.L. James in future writing endeavors.

Overall I can tell you that this series is not nearly as "dirty" as it has been touted nor is it that riveting. I will admit to eventually starting to like it and can say that if you are too quick to judgment and not see it to the end of all three books, you really can't give a proper review. ~Michelle

Bound by Night -Amanda Ashley

Bound by Night by Amanda Ashley ~V^V

I don't know how to really review this book. I am tempted to read the second book in the two book series to see if it makes more sense but at the same time I don't want to go through it all again. If that makes any sense.

I liked the premise and I have liked this author in the past. I think it flowed nicely and seemed to have a good concept but it just fell flat. My issues were mainly based on time. I couldn't for the life of me determine WHEN this book was supposed to take place. Elena, the female lead, seems to have gone to a contemporary High School. She talks about television, ipods, electricity, driving cars, etc. While at the same time the characters all seem to be hung up on her being "quite old to not be wed", she is 19. She also talks of "silk" dresses in the closet yet sometimes she puts on khakis. It left me very confused.

Furthermore the male lead, Vampire Drake Wolfram tends to be a bit of a push over and obviously he would be stuck in an old school mentality, he is 500 years old. So his father tells him he must marry someone whom was chosen for him as a child and he apparently has no ability to stand on his own two feet and just say no. The same is true for the female Vampire he is to wed.

At a certain point the story seems to really skip ahead time quite quickly at which point the flow was a bit too fast for me.

My last point of contemption is with Elena's uncle. Yes we all love a REALLY hateful antagonist, BUT this one was just uncomfortable. Again this is where the time period issue confounds me. It almost sounds as though he would get away with his crimes in a Medieval period and is punished as though it were that time, Not current. Once again I felt Elena was too kind hearted to be believable, when it comes to her dealing with his punishment.

Overall I have to agree with the other reviews I have read that stated that the couple just weren't very believable and the romance fell flat. Overall the book in my opinion wasn't that good. ~Michelle

Bound by Blood is the second book in the two part series.

Emerald Green (Erotic Review) by Desiree Holt

Emerald Green by Desiree Holt~ V^^V

HUH, what to say about this one. Well right from the start I thought "Well, they are not going to waste any time are they". Then it started to get a little to unrealistic to me. The constant references to Emeralds and thrown in historical facts about them just felt odd, and completely out of place. So I started to feel a little "blah, blah, blah" until the abrupt ending. At which point I thought "oh, OK that explains it" only to think, huh or was it. I guess in the end I am still confused. LOL The erotica was pretty good, it only crossed over into the realm of creeping me out at a feel points but that might just be personal squeamishness. ~Michelle
