Pleasure Unbound (Demonica #1) by Larissa Ione

Pleasure Unbound (Demonica #1) by Larissa Ione~ V^^^^^V

What to say about the first book in the Demonica series? Well first I will tell you that I got into the Demons thing after reading LOTU. I actually did it as group read with some friends on Facebook. Let me tell you it was fun. In this first book you not just merely meeting the key players and becoming familiar with the "Underworld"; you are also getting a highly charged story. The battle of good versus evil and blurring of the lines between. Forget everything you thought you knew about Demons and check out this series. ~Michelle

A Late Holiday Read Bah! Humbug! by Heather Horrocks

Bah! Humbug! by Heather Horrocks~ V^^^^V

A cute little Romance story set in the Christmas Season. I liked this one quite a bit. The really wanted to see these characters end up together given how much they were fighting. The emotional side of the story, with both characters having lost family had me actually crying when I read it. So I need to tell you that is a hallmark of some good story telling? The only thing I found a little hard to swallow was the sudden rush of the story ending, the relationship while budding just seemed to go from 0-wedding in no time. However I'll allow because it was a short story after all. ~Michelle

NEW RELEASE TODAY

January 24, 2012!!!

Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breeds #10)
by Lara Adrian

Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed, #10)
In the dark of night, a blood war escalates within the hidden world of the Breed. After existing in secret for many long centuries, maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the entire vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order—a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike—to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire at the center of the conflict, before his push for domination can explode into catastrophe.

At the center of the Order’s quest is Sterling Chase, once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With addiction beckoning him toward eternal darkness, Chase’s path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach. But when his eyes meet those of Tavia Fairchild, a beautiful witness who identifies him at the scene of a mission gone terribly wrong, Chase finds himself drawn to the woman—and convinced she is something much more than she seems.

Pulled into a vortex of intrigue and danger she can neither resist nor understand, Tavia is uncertain whom to trust. And while everything sane and logical warns her against getting close to Chase, she cannot deny that the handsome, deeply haunted male stirs something primal and ravenous within her. But even as she surrenders to her cravings, nothing can prepare her for the shattering truth of who—and what—she truly is.

As the Order’s enemy mobilizes for the battle of the ages, Dragos and his Minions unleashing a hell on Earth like nothing ever seen before, Chase and Tavia are thrust into the heart of the violence. With time running out and the streets running red with the blood of innocent lives, both Breed and human, together Chase and Tavia must find a way to defeat Dragos once and for all—or die trying.

Monday Spotlight: Hot Blooded Anthology

Hot Blooded Anthology~ V^^^^V

I really liked this one. Carpathians, Mageverse, Emma Holly and Maggie Shayne what is not to like? Though this is really deep in the Carpathians series its still necessary if you will be reading it in its entirety. Mageverse, let me tell you at first I thought it was a bit cheesy, with King Arthur Angela managed to get me hooked. The short stories are just the right length, don't seem to rushed and are a nice bridge between the full length stories. ~Michelle

Drink Deep by Chloe Niell

Drink Deep~ V^^^V

What to say? What to say? Well I was having some difficulties with the book holding my attention. That could just be because it is a YA or it could be that it is a first person UF, while I tend to stray toward third person Romance. Whatever the cause it took me a while to finish. So I tend to believe that the story drug on a little, there were a lot of clues but not a lot of forward progress. Then abruptly everything was solved. Left me a little annoyed. Now I had a feeling I knew what was going on and once my suspicions were confirmed I was upset with myself for not knowing immediately. The big shocker came in the final chapters but even that seemed a reach for me. I also don't know if I much care for it. But of course no matter how much I complain I am invested and will be reading Biting Cold. ~Michelle

Cupid Cats Anthology Review

Cupid Cats~ V^^^^V

Got this one for the Dark Ones story and was not disappointed. Had all the classic Katie MacAlister humor that I enjoy and fun story. I would normally recommend this book to someone who is debating whether or not they would like to read the Dark Ones series, you know just to get an idea of what the series is like. But on this one I can't do that, it is just way too far into the series for a novice. I do however recommend the entire Dark Ones series for a light read. Oh and the other shorts are good as well. ;-) ~Michelle

Man of My Dreams Anothology Review

Man of My Dreams~ V^^^^V

I read only the League short in this anthology and I really liked it. It was released WAY before the rest of the League books were written so it was surprising to read everything in tact as expected. Recommend to all who are reading the League series or are debating it. You can't go wrong with a short story to whet your appetite. ~Michelle

The Only One Anotholgy Review

The Only One~ V^^^^V

I liked this Anthology. Carpathians really need to be read in order so that you can follow them correctly. Therefore I read this book for Dark Descent short story. As a side I was able to read Sacrilege, book #2 in the Companion series by Susan Squires. The Companion series one of my exceptions to the no historical romance rule. Recommend this book to anyone who is reading either of those series or interested in trying. ~Michelle

Circus of the Darned by Katie Maxwell

Circus of the Darned (Ben & Fran #2) ~ V^^^V

Another prequel to "In The Company of Vampires" and also the conclusion of "Got Fangs?". Fran is more familiar with the Moravian world but still can be a bit daunting to read about. Typical teenage troubles abound as well as the troubles with Benedikt. Not to mention a whole host of issues at the GothFaire. This story has plenty of action and is a lot of fun. ~Michelle

Got Fangs? by Katie Maxwell Review

Got Fangs? by Katie Maxwell ~V^^^V

Got Fangs? was fun. Francesca ticked me off some with her ignorance of Benedikt but I think that is just based off my knowledge from previous books. That said Benedikt ticked me off plenty as well, MEN! Seriously though I did enjoy it, recommend to YA readers prior to Reading the Dark One's books, or at least before you read In the Company of Vampires. ~Michelle

Naked Werewolf -Molly Harper

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1)How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a huge Molly Harper fan. I stumbled across her Jane Jameson series at the library one day and gave it a shot. WOW, loved it, and was laughing the whole way through. Since I had so loved that series I was excited to see that she had a new one coming out. I preordered my copy of How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf and was thrilled when I received it a few days early. So about this book, Mo is a riot full of quips and quick comebacks, she was raised in a commune by hippy parents, leaving a hysterical history to read. I think some of my favorite lines are Mo’s generalizations of all werewolves. All the characters in Grundy are likeable and I found myself quickly rooting for them.

Dead To Me -Anton Strout

Dead To Me (Simon Canderous, #1)Dead To Me by Anton Strout

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Where do you go for legitimate employment if your talents are a little extra ordinary? For Simon Canderous the answer came to him in the New York Times classified listings for a “SCRYER”. See Simon has the ability to touch an object and know its history, otherwise known as Psychometry. There are benefits to this talent, mainly criminal or well borderline anyway. After another failed relationship attempt, thanks to said talent Simon throws himself fully into his latest case. Enter Irene a ghost with some very unghost like qualities, while on the search for her identity, cause of death and reason for her Earth bound condition Simon will discover that this case is much larger than just one soul.

The Simon Canderous series follows an ongoing lead character and is told in the first person from Simon’s perspective. I have only read Dead To Me so far but found it captivating and hilarious. I enjoyed the peak into the male mind, which left me both laughing out loud and rolling my eyes. MEN! Overall I really enjoyed this book and intend to continue on with the series.

Lover Revealed -J.R. Ward

Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4)Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was not looking forward to this book. My thought was why do I need to know about Butch I haven't even gotten to know all of the Brothers yet. So I grudgingly opened this book and quickly found myself intrigued. Never would I have expected Butch to take on such a huge role in the series. Once again I have to give this one a 5 star review. Bravo J.R. Bravo.

The Honey Pot

Lover Awakened -J.R. Ward

Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book 3 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is another top notch book. You would be hard pressed to find a BDB reader who doesn't think of Z as their favorite. I still love Rhage but that is not to say that this book did not grip me. The panic, the goosebumps and the tearjerker moments keep the page turner in the top reread pile.

Lover Eternal -J.R. Ward

Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2)Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I only have one thing to really say about this book. RHAGE. My favorite of the books to date as well as my favorite brother. This book had me in tears, I was a complete mess. The story was completely captivating and heartbreaking. My copy is so dog eared for excessive rereads that is almost embarrassing.

Halfway to the Grave -Jeaniene Frost

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1)Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once again I will spare you the details of the series as you can read the blurb on your own. Being a fan of third person wiring and Romance more than First person and Urban Fantasy had me dragging my feet on this one. However the cover and blurb had me intrigued so I gave it a shot. Must say I was very impressed. Cat's character, while frustrating at times, is still likable and her strong will is impressive. Bones is another phenomenal character, again at times he is quite infuriating but the chemistry between the two is combustible. This is in my top 3 UF series favorites.

DARK LOVER -J.R. Ward

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1)Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

By now you have read the blurb and have have decided to at least think about reading this book. Here is my opinion... Dark Lover started out with a bang, literally. But then for the first few chapters I thought, "what the hell am I reading? I am not sure I like this." Now mind you I went straight from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles to Twilight then on to Black Dagger Brotherhood. Needless to say these vampires were neither Androgynous nor were they sparkly. So as I am introduced to a whole new world of vampires I am a little culture shocked. Around Chapter 5 however, I was hooked I was turning pages faster then I thought possible. There were so many moments that I look back on even now, years later, that still give me chills. To be honest I have reread this book so many times I should ahve it memorized by now. So in conclusion; not only is this one of the greatest Contemporary Paranormal Romances series to date! It is also a MUST READ for ALL Vampire Romance fans. You will never think of the word MINE in the same way again. For that matter you will most likely not be able to read it just once.

Ecstasy Untamed -Pamela Palmer

Ecstasy Untamed (Feral Warriors, #6) Ecstasy Untamed (Feral Warriors, #6) by Pamela Palmer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Damn near impossible to put down! So much action, so many intriguing developments, ugh I can't wait for the next one! OK details, hmmmm. Well we get to meet the new Fox shifter and then some. :-O The relationship between Hawke and his animal is just the tip of the iceberg. It was emotional ride. Honestly I think I will add this series to me owned list.

Invincible By Sherrilyn Kenyon

Invincible (Chronicles of Nick, #2)Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed it merely because I love all things Dark Hunter. Even though this is a YA I still found the story interesting. And while it doesn't hurt to have the involvement of already well known characters the history of the Malachai is very enlightening.
