And One Last Thing by Molly Harper ~ V^^^^^V
Have I mentioned that I love Molly Harper? Well I do. I put off reading And One Last Thing for a long time. I am not a big Chick Lit fan, nor am I a divorcee so I just didn’t think I would like it. I was wrong. Finally after months of humming and hawing I went ahead and did it. First of all I don’t know what it is about Molly’s writing that just speaks to me but I feel like she is writing in my own internal monologue voice. I swear more saying and thoughts come out of her characters that I think myself than I would say is rational. Anyway to the point; One Last Thing is a story of Lacey Terwiller, a suburban housewife who discovers her husband is having an affair. The story follows her struggle through the anger, hurt, betrayal and eventual rebuilding of her life. The writing is phenomenal. So completely engrossed in the tale I was embarrassed, enraged, hurt and saddened along with Lacey. I wanted to reach into the pages and strangle Mike, the ex, myself. I HIGHLY recommend this book, it really was a great story. ~Michelle
It has been ages since I have read a Nightcreatures novel, so long in fact that I had forgotten how much I loved them. WOW! Once again the Jager-Suchers are on the look out for Werewolves, this time sending rogue hunter Alexandra Trevalyn. She finds herself turned against her will by a man/werewolf with revenge on the mind. In a quiet little village in Alaska discovers that not all weres are bad. LOVED this book. The character interactions were phenomenal and the sexual tension will leave you panting for more. Moon Cursed is the most recent title just released 3/1/11. ~Michelle
I am calling this an Urban Fantasy; while it has some romantic aspects it’s mostly just a standard Vampire Fantasy. Sarah Dearly has the worst blind date in history. He bit her and thus began her life as a vampire. Along the way she meets Master Vampire Thierry, gay vampire George, Vampire Hunter Quinn and many more colorful characters. The series, in my opinion, was hilarious. Told mainly through Sarah’s perspective, her kind heart and general naiveté will leave you laughing, and in my case occasionally annoyed. I enjoyed this for the lightheartedness and the comedy. Every once in awhile I need a little change in genre and this was a fun story and fit the bill perfectly. I recommend this one for sure. ~Michelle
First I have to say I am devastated. Elite Ops is was my favorite series of Lora Leigh’s, Knowing this was the last book left me heart broken. Don’t get me wrong though, she ended it wonderfully. The characters from previous books make appearances, good and evil. The story was sensual, action packed and provided adequate closure. Though I am sad to see this series end, I am happy to report a new one will begin this summer with Midnight Sins.
~MichelleHannah’s Luck by Lora Leigh
Reckless and Yours by Red Garnier
Tempt Me by Alexis Grant
Love Me ‘Til Death by Lorie O’Clare
Red Garnier’s Reckless and Yours had me near tears the whole way through. The story itself had a great mystery but the real page-turner is the couple. Emotionally gripping beyond reasoning, I just couldn’t put it down. I think this may have been my favorite of the four.
Alexis Grant’s Tempt Me, was a great lead in to her Men of Delta Force series. The characters are wonderful, with great backgrounds and interaction. This story clearing introducing people you will later meet in the full series. I was disappointed in the ending though, seemed really rushed and open ended.
Love Me ‘Til Death from Lorie O’Claire has peeked my interest in finding some her other titles. Her characters were bold and intriguing. Though I felt things were a little rushed in the initial relationship establishment, I can understand the restraints of a novella. That said, I really enjoyed the story and the writing.
Bleeding Heart by Michelle Rowen
Skin & Bone by Ava Gray
Angel-Claimed by Jory Strong
Primal Kiss by Lora Leigh
Sadly I have to say that this anthology was disappointing. Lora Leigh’s story was too short and felt rushed. I just felt like there was a lack of character background to really grip me.
Michelle Rowen’s story had me confused. I have read her Vampire series in the past ,so I was at a complete loss as to why this time her vampires were evil. Mostly I was spending a lot of time trying to understand the story and not really following along. Again I felt it was rushed.
Angel Claimed by Jory Strong had a good flow and the story was interesting. However, I felt lost. The back-story, setting up the world, was complicated and a little too S&M for what I was expecting. The highlight of this anthology, for me, was Ava Grey's Skin and Bone. The characters had a great chemistry and the storyline kept moving in a way that really sucked me in. I felt emotionally involved and intrigued enough to want to seek out the whole series.
