Millennium Series by Steig Larsson

Another series all in one shot, these books are really a read them back to back to back sort. Once you get through the first one you will rush on to the next. So without further a due.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ~V^^^V

The first half was a bit slow if you are not a fan of numbers. Me, being a fan of numbers for some obscure reason, I found it fun. Anyway the story is incredible, the characters intriguing, and the mystery really keeps you thinking. I was recommended this story from the first my sister and then by several others, once I saw it was adapted to film (originally in Sweden and then in America)I knew I needed to find out what was going on. The hype did not
build up the story any more than necessary, if anything it didn't build it up enough. This first book while very good, is just the beginning. Don stop with just this book. ~Michelle

The Girl Who Played with Fire ~V^^^^V

A few things to know.

1. Lisbeth Salander kicks ass!
2. You can not hide from the truth.
3. This story is intense and will stick with you, well beyond completion of the story.
Lastly
4. Don't stop now, you need to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, it's not over yet!!!

I will not get into details, you need to read this book yourself. I will tell you that by not reading this book you will miss out on an excellent tale of espionage, murder and so much action your brain might explode.

LOL Seriously though read these books. ~Michelle

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest ~V^^^^V

Shot in several places Lisbeth Salander is in the hospital and trying to recuperate with the cops anxiously waiting to take her to jail. Attempted murder of her father and a large scale conspiracy at stake. This book
seemed similar to the first book in the background details but the story is so gripping there really is nothing else you can do until you finish. Lisbeth had a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TRULY AWFUL life and now its time for someone to pay. PLEASE make someone pay. A fabulous revenge book. I just loved it. ~Michelle

Primal Call Reviewed

Primal Call by Susan Sizemore Novella Primes #10~ V^^^^V

Ah yes Primes. I do enjoy this series. I tend to forget about it until fictfact reminds me that there is a new one. Which is sad considering that this is one of my favorites. This novella was a little rushed towards the end but the main part of the story was wonderful. I feel like it was really just a teaser though, as now I am anxious for the next full length Primes novel. ~Michelle

Monday Spotlight: Real Men Do It Better Anthology

Real Men Do It Better~ V^^^^V

His Body Electric by Carrie Alexander

Bed & Breakfast by Susan Donovan

For Maggie’s Sake by Lora Leigh (SEAL’s #3)

Siren’s Call by Lori Wilde

*Sigh* While once again I loved the Lora Leigh contribution I found that I also really enjoyed the other stories as well. One must remember that this is an erotic book so the main plot is the sex. Anything beyond the sex is a plus. As all of these stories had a plot with realistic characters and semi believable situations I would say A+ I will say I didn't love ALL of the scenarios and characters but I am still going with a top rating again. ~Michelle

A Taste of Midnight Review

A little late since I already reviewed the book after this novella but here it is anyway.

A Taste of Midnight by Lara Adrian~ V^^^^V

I was very pleased to see that Lara Adrian finally did a novella. This one did not disappoint. I am one to admit that I have been wondering what even happened with Danika and her son, though I got caught up in the rest of the series and forgot about her a little. I wanted Danika to stay true to Conlan. While she seemed to have done that she is also has realized that she needs to move on and live her life. In this story she meets with trouble and has a brush with someone from her past. Though I wish this story was longer I really did enjoy it. ~Michelle

A Little Something Different -PART 2

A few of the non Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Books I have read.

Glow in the Dark Constellations by C.E. Thompson~ V^^^^^V
I LOVE this book. It has great explanations and details about constellations. Where and when you can see them. The story of their namings and you can SEE them. While the illustration shows the surrounding stars the constellations are the only part that glow. This has been an excellent help for pointing out the actual stars in the sky. Once you can see them in a book you know what to look for. ~
Michelle

Icarus at th
e Edge of Time by Brian Greene~ V^^^^^V
The title and the cover art drew me in. I love a good myth. This updated journey of Icarus to the edge of a black hole is wonderful. The pictures from NASA would excellent the the story itself actually helped me to finally understand the time differential that applies to black holes. I recommend this one to adults despite the fact that this is a children's book. Its really fun for all. ~Michelle

Aliens and Energy by
Agnieszka Biskup~ V^^^^^V
My daughter knows I love Aliens so she brought this book home from her school library for me to read. Didn't want to disappoint her so I read it. I have to say it was really fun. Given the simple explanations I actually learned a few things I didn't know already. This book is an educational explanation of energy. Where does energy come from and how does it work? The comic book graphics and little jokes make it interesting to even to me. Definite recommendation for children who want to know but need a "monster" to keep them hooked. ~Michelle

Tutankhamen's Tomb: Uncover the Secrets and Treasures of Ancient Egypt by Jen Green~ V^^^^V
Educational, fun, and interesting as heck. My first pop up book in ages and they are still as fun as I remembered. This one pretty much covered everything I already knew from previous research but this was a fun new look at all the stuff. From the break down of the inside of the sarcophagus to the removal of brains through the nose. It's all there in intricate detail.

Monday Spotlight: Honk If You Love Real Men Anthology

Honk If You Love Real Men ~V^^^^^V

Naughty Girl by Carrie Alexander

Wanted: One Hot Blooded Man by Pamela Britton

Have Mercy by Susan Donovan

Reno’s Chance by Lora Leigh (SEALs #1)

WOW! I enjoyed this one. I am such a Anthology super fan it's ridiculous. At any rate all of these stories are HOT. They are not too long to bore you and then don't seem rushed in their shortness either. So not only do I recommend this Anthology, I also recommend these authors. ~Michelle

Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

MacKayla Lane/ Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning~ V^^^^V

I am g
oing to review this entire series in one shot. How can one person go from a carefree sun loving southern girl, to searching for her sister's murderer and end up either dooming or saving the world? I really don't know how I got from point A to point B but it was one hell of a journey. ~Michelle

Darkfever~ V^^^^V
Karen Marie Moning has a writing style that seems to just grab me and entice me from the start. This book is no exception, immediately we are sucked into the laissez faire lifestyle of MacKayla Lane, a bartender/ southern bell. A phone call changes her life forever when she finds out her sister is murdered. As the police in Dublin don't seem to have any leads they drop the case, much to MacKayla's dismay. She journeys across the ocean to solve the crime, in doing so she finds out a whole lot more than she bargained for. We are soon immersed in the world of Fae. It is a fun tale, MacKayla's take on the world remains fairly light hearted and I liked her simplicity. The only complaint I could really make is that the foreshadowing of books to come seemed to be excessive. In a way it left me wondering what I would later discover but at the same time I wanted her to just come out with it. I will say I was intrigued enough to continue with this series quickly.

Bloodfev
er~ V^^^^V

The story is really starting to pick up steam now. I still have no idea what Barrons is and it is killing me. I am glad at this point the story is past the point of explanations and we are now getting into the nitty gritty of the search for the Sindsar Dubh. There were a few scenes that made me cringe and some that I really enjoyed. Overall I think I am actually more interested in continuing just to find out what Barrons is. I think this book raised more questions than it answered. It seems more and more people are telling MacKayla to question Barrons, and he NEVER seems to answer any. I can relate to her frustrations with the man.

Faefever~ V^^^^V

REALLY? That can not be the end. I was intending to read something else between books in this series but that is not going to happen now. The end was so abrupt and so not what I was expecting I had no choice but to immediately jump in to Dreamfever. I thought this book made some major advancements in the series. A whole heap of trouble is coming down on Halloween and Mac needs to be ready. Can she learn everything she needs to know in time. And just who are her allies and who are her enemies?

Dreamfever~ V^^^^V

Well! I never thought there could have been a bigger cliff hanger than the one at the end of Faefever. To be fair that wasn't so much of a cliff hanger as it was a WTF, end. This one multiplied that my one hundred. Once again my plan to take a Fever break for a day or two and read something else has been changed. I immediately had to start Shadowfever. This series is turning out to be one that really sticks in your craw and eats away at your brain until it is all you can think about.

Shadowfever~ V^^^^V

Well it was a wild ride, full of twists and turns. I a few points I thought I had some suspicions. Some of them came to pass but then others didn't. In the end I can tell you I enjoyed it. Now the break down. I felt too depressed to even go on after Chapter 1. Friends pushed me to continue and soon enough I was rewarded for hanging in there. Mostly the book was a joy, however I started to feel like ti got long and started to just go in circles. Mac's inner monologue started to get too long winded and I was ready for her to just get to the point. Overall I would say it was worth it and to date is my favorite Fae series.

The Hollows Book 9

Pale Demon -Rachel Morgan/ The Hollows Book 9 by Kim Harrison ~V^^^V

ROAD TRIP!

Well road trip part 2. This time around Rachel and Jenks are taking Trent along. Rachel needs to clear her name with the witches. Living under a sanction sucks. Trent has plans of his own and is just looking for a driver. Jenks adds the necessary lightness to the story and keeps things fun for me. Ivy and Pierce make an appearance later on as does my favorite, Al. This story was fun, another chance for Rachel to fumble through and somehow come ahead. I never said without any new demon marks mind you. I would say I liked this one about as much as the other Hallows books. I will continue to read this series but I don't rush out for the new releases. ~Michelle

Monday Spotlight: Magic Graves Anthology

Magic Graves~ V^^^^V

Jeaniene Frost's story, One for the Money was pretty good. I enjoyed a little short side story involving Cat & Bones. However I was saddened by the shortness of said story. It is a Novella after all but I can never get enough of those two. The story itself was good but it was the characters that sold it for me. So on that note. It also includes the first three chapters from Jeaniene's story in The Bite Before Christmas anthology, as well as a sneak peek at ONCE BURNED, the first novel in the new Night Prince series.

Ilona Andrews' story, A Questionable Client, is a prequel to the Kate Daniels series. This one gave me a quick glimpse into the world of Kate Daniels. It seemed interesting enough to get me to read them all.

Random and Eric were having a shoving match- right on Seventh Street. Probably arguing over how best to gift wrap her to Dr. Jekell. And there- yup, Eric threw the first punch, a nice roundhouse, one that probably made the air whistle.

The Hollows Book 8 Reviewed

Black Magic Sanction Rachel Morgan/ The Hollows Book 8 ~V^^^^V

OMG, this book had me bawling. I mean bawling. I was absolutely heart broken, and still am a little bit. Beyond that I can't say I agree with others on the sexual aspects of this series. To me this series is nothing about Rachel's sex life or her relationships. Honestly I could care less who she ends up with. I really only care about her friendships and business relationships. I grow tired of the will they or won't they mess between Rachel and Ivy because again, I feel it is bringing an aspect into the story that just seems at odds with the rest of it. What can I tell you about the book as a whole? Well Al has a bigger role in this one and I still enjoy him. Pierce and Trent are of course around as well as Jenks and Ivy. I think we have gained a few more friends in this book but we have also lost some. Well due to Rachel's blacklisting. I liked the book, I enjoy the development of the series to date and will continue. ~Michelle

The Hollows Book 7

White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7)White Witch, Black Curse by Kim Harrison

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I had previously read the short stories to this series so two of the characters were previously involved in those novellas. Therefore I was familiar with their back stories where other readers may not have been. I was excited to read about Pierce again. I was also interested to see how things would play out this time with the banshee. Rachel's brother makes an appearance and we are finally starting to get to know her family. We also finally get some answers to Rachel and Trent's relationship as children and possibly some answers for Rachel. It was also pretty traumatic to find out why Rachel couldn't remember details about Kisten's death. In the end I can tell you a whole lot happened in this book so you really shouldn't miss it. ~Michelle

The Hollows Book 6

The Outlaw Demon Wails/ Rachel Morgan, The Hollows by Kim Harrison ~V^^^V

Hmmm, well what can I say? I guess the thing that stands out in my mind the most in this book was the roller skating date. LOL It was just so obscure that I think it scarred my brain. Beyond that I can't believe that Kistin is still dead, like really dead. I am beyond tired of listening to Rachel hem and ha about having a blood relationship with Ivy; just do it already. Al; Al is hilarious. Perhaps it is my dry humor but I dig him. Beyond that I love Jenks, he is a great side story and reading about he and his family is always a nice little sideline. I can say at this point I am finally hooked on this series. So on to book 7. ~Michelle

The Hollows Book 5 Reviewed

For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison ~V^^^^V

WELL! That was a surprise. Finally I am really getting hooked on this series. Some MAJOR plot changes have me biting my nails, how can Rachel and Ivy come back from that? What, what am I talking about? You will have to read, I do NOT do spoilers, you want to know what happened, read the book! LOL Honestly I can say that this series is getting better, in my opinion. Though it has taken 5 books, I can honestly say I don't care anymore. Obviously it was all world building and now I am ready to go. Bring on "The Outlaw Demon Wails". ~Michelle

If you are a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, I think you will like this series as well. Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed is a race of alien “vampires”, who have bred with human women since ancient times, causing their race to be watered down enough to not be too dangerous. However a new evil wants control and will stop at nothing to win. Riveting stories told with just the right amount of danger, sex and love.
